Overview

AIVA Pet is a desktop pet application for macOS developed by Mike Shaffer. Your privacy matters. This app is designed to work without collecting, storing, or transmitting any personal data.

Data Collection

AIVA Pet does not collect any personal information. There are no user accounts, no sign-ups, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.

Microphone

AIVA Pet requests microphone access for optional voice interaction. Speech recognition is performed entirely on your device using Apple's built-in speech recognition framework. Audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted to any server. Voice interaction is only active when you explicitly initiate it by double-tapping the Shift key, and stops when you release it.

Network

AIVA Pet makes network requests for two purposes only:

Content updates: The app fetches seasonal content (animations, accessories, holiday themes) from a public GitHub repository at launch. These requests contain no personal data, only standard HTTP headers.

Companion app: If you choose to use the optional AIVA Companion app for voice assistant features, the desktop pet connects to it via a local WebSocket on your own computer (localhost:9876). No data leaves your machine.

Third-Party Services

AIVA Pet does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. There are no ads in the app.

Data Storage

AIVA Pet does not store any user data on disk or in the cloud. The app has no database, no preferences file, and no user profile. Each launch starts fresh.

Children's Privacy

AIVA Pet does not collect any information from anyone, including children. The app is suitable for all ages.

Changes

If this privacy policy is updated, the new version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date.
